The cherry blossom, in Japanese tradition, is the symbol of the fragile and changing nature of life and is also viewed as the symbol of the courageous warrior. This combination of strength and vulnerability certainly applies when faced with a difficult experience or crisis situation. I believe that we all have a great capacity to turn pain and difficulties into opportunities for growth and healing as we experience the feelings and transitions that come about. Each person is resilient and strong, even when she or he does not feel that way. My professional style is compassionate and practical and I believe in meeting the needs of the client by working together to decide on what will be most helpful.
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 1996 and received my Masters of Science degree in Counselor Education from Portland State University in 2001. I have been working with survivors of crime, trauma, and abuse and their families for over 10 years. I am also a Nationally and State Certified Victim Specialist.
I have worked with and continue to provide consultation and training to law enforcement, government entities, community organizations, corporate businesses, and human service agencies to better understand and address the needs of survivors of crime, trauma, and abuse and their families.
